Yoga with Elena.

Hatha.

Hatha Yoga encompasses the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques) to help calm the mind and body. Hatha classes are practiced more slowly and gently with more static posture holds. Hatha means “force” and is more traditionally defined as the “yoga of force” or “the means of attaining a state of yoga through force”. Hatha classes build flexibility and strength but through a gentle more nuanced practice.

Rocket.

Rocket Yoga is a derivative of ashtanga yoga as created in the 80’s by Larry Schultz in San Francisco. The rocket routines were created for those who wanted to practice yoga but did not have the body type or time to master the traditional Ashtanga practice. It is a fun, dynamic and playful practice focusing on strength as well as flexibility.  The high energy rocket practice always helps lift my mood and I love challenging myself through this practice.

Nidra.

Yoga Nidra also known as ‘yogic sleep’ is a meditation and conscious relaxation practice to induce physical, mental and emotional relaxation. It is generally practiced lying down with pillows and blankets so that you are nice and cosy! It is a very restorative and guided practice to help take us effortlessly into a state of harmonious and restful being. This practice is all the more beneficial in a world with endless information and activity at our fingertips and can help us to slow down, relax, switch off and rest.

Mandala.

Mandala in sanskrit means circle, essence or completion. Mandala is a vinyasa style class often based on one of the four elements - air, fire, water and earth. It is a creative, dynamic practice that helps us make circular movements with our bodies moving 360 degrees around the mat. I absolutely love expressing myself in this beautiful fluid practice.
